Conclusion:

The 2-day medical outreach at Elie Village was a success, providing essential medical services to 550 individuals. The high turnout and prevalence of infectious diseases highlight the need for sustained healthcare interventions in this community. The high turnout made us exhaust our medical cards and as resulted in seeing patients with sheets of papers and also seeing some verbally without being registered all to give available health care needed there by giving them a sense of belonging despite having ran out of basic medication.

Future Plans:

  1. Conduct quarterly medical outreaches
  2. Establish a community health worker program
  3. Collaborate with local authorities to improve healthcare infrastructure

  • Dr. Godwin Iche says:

This is a very loud initiative by Medical Visions for Peace to provide free healtcare services for rural communities that are underserved. Dr. Ogu Emejuru, a Paediatrician based in USA is highly commendable to see this happen in Nigeria. Also special thanks to Mrs Peace Owhor-Ogunleye, the country director of MVP. It’s great to be part of this incredible and undeterred team.
